Did you know that the ocean covers more than 70% of planet Earth? What may seem even more shocking though is that we have only explored less than 5% of it. In just this 5% there are approximately 200,000 known species of marine life that we currently knowledgeable about. Scientists believe that there are a possible 2 million species in our oceans though, which really puts into perspective just how much of the seas we have yet to explore. With each new piece of the ocean being uncovered as technology progresses, we are able to find new sources of food, plant life, animals, and even medicines. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what may be out there, but as of now it remains one of our worlds greatest mysteries.
